RMJK: Renovation of Family House in Lagos Island
The RMKJ renovation on Lagos Island transformed a 70-year-old family house into a functional, modernized space while preserving its historical character. Originally a 4-room family unit with an outdoor kitchen and lettable shops, the renovation added an extra floor to accommodate six new lettable units, comprising three 2-bedroom units and three studio apartments. A courtyard was integrated to enhance ventilation and natural lighting, and original architectural features were carefully restored. The project prioritized sustainability through the recycling and reuse of materials, successfully creating contemporary living spaces that respect the building’s historical charm and improved functionality.
